Domain Types: Standard and Parked Domains
Dmarcer offers two types of domain licence: Standard Domains and Parked Domains.
Standard Domains
Standard Domains are the domains your organisation actively uses to send and receive email.
These domains get the full range of Dmarcer monitoring, reporting and management features, including DMARC analysis, DNS monitoring, security assessments and compliance reporting.
Most of your business domains will be set up as Standard Domains.
Parked Domains
Parked Domains are domains you own but do not actively use for email or websites. People often register these to protect a brand, product, campaign, or common misspelling from cybersquatting and impersonation.
Parked domains are easy to overlook, yet they can carry a real risk. If a parked domain does not have the right security controls in place, attackers can use it to send fraudulent emails, and because no one is watching the domain closely, it can go unnoticed.
That is why Dmarcer plans come with a generous allowance of Parked Domain licences. This helps you secure your wider collection of domains without using up your Standard Domain licences.
Converting a Domain to Parked
To switch a domain to a Parked Domain:
- Go to Domain Management.
- Select the domain you want to update.
- Open the domain actions menu.
- Select Convert to Parked.
The domain will start using a Parked Domain licence straight away.
Parked Domain Monitoring
Parked Domains have a smaller set of monitoring and reporting features than Standard Domains. This lets Dmarcer keep an eye on large numbers of defensive registrations efficiently while still spotting the key security risks.
If Dmarcer notices that a Parked Domain has become active again, for example email services being added or other signs of everyday use, it will automatically move the domain back to a Standard Domain licence so it gets full monitoring and protection.
