When you sign in to the portal you land on your dashboard, labelled Welcome in the menu on the left (the house icon). It is designed to be read in just a few seconds: a friendly greeting, a handful of headline numbers, a single suggested next step, and a status card for each of your domains. You do not need to understand the technical detail to use it, as the page does the interpreting for you.
What the dashboard shows
At the top you will see Welcome back followed by your first name, and a line reading "Here's a quick overview of how email security is looking for" with your company name. Below that are three headline cards that sum everything up at a glance.
- Domains monitored: how many of your domains we are keeping an eye on. If your plan allows more, it also shows "of N available".
- Protected: how many domains have their core protections in place.
- Need review: how many domains have something worth a look. When this is zero you will see "nothing pressing right now".
The What to do next panel
Under the headline numbers is a single highlighted panel. Rather than giving you a long list, the dashboard picks the one most important action across all your domains and shows it here, with a See details button that takes you straight to the relevant domain. The suggestions are ordered by importance, so the most pressing one always comes first:
- Verify ownership of a domain (this comes first, because nothing else can be confirmed until ownership is verified).
- Publish a DMARC record for a domain that has none.
- Publish an SPF record for a domain that has none.
- Fix the MTA-STS policy for a domain where it is broken.
- Tighten the DMARC policy where it is not yet being enforced.
- Turn on DNSSEC, or set up MTA-STS, where these optional protections are missing.
If there is nothing to do, the panel changes to Everything's looking good and explains that we have no recommendations for now and will let you know if that changes. If you have no domains yet, it shows a Get started panel instead, with an Add your first domain button (where you are able to add domains yourself). If that button is not there, your service provider has not switched on the option for you to add domains yourself, so please get in touch with them to get started.
Your domain cards
Below the panel, under the heading Your domains, is one card per domain showing the domain name and a coloured status badge. Click any card to open the full detail page for that domain. The badge tells you where the domain stands at a glance:
- Protected (green): the core protections are in place and healthy.
- Protected, room to improve (grey): the core protections are fine, but an optional extra such as DNSSEC or MTA-STS is not set up.
- Some improvements available (amber): something is worth reviewing, for example DMARC is published but not yet being enforced.
- Needs your attention (red): a core protection is missing or broken, such as ownership not verified or no SPF or DMARC record.
For the headline numbers, both "Protected" and "Protected, room to improve" count as protected, because the essentials are in place. Only the amber and red domains count towards "Need review".
If you have many domains
The dashboard keeps things tidy by showing up to six domain cards. If you have more, a View all N domains button appears underneath; this opens the full My Domains list, where every domain is shown together. You can also reach My Domains from the menu on the left, where your service provider has enabled it.
Common questions and pitfalls
- A domain is not showing. The dashboard only lists active domains. If one is missing, it may be paused or removed, so check the My Domains page or ask your service provider.
- The numbers look out of date. The dashboard reflects the most recent checks. After you change a DNS record it can take a little while for the change to be picked up, so a card may stay amber or red briefly before turning green.
- The What to do next button only mentions one domain. That is on purpose: it always points you at the single highest-priority action. Once you have dealt with it, the panel will move on to the next item, or switch to "Everything's looking good".
- Some menu items are missing. The portal only shows the sections your service provider has enabled for you (for example Reports, Alerts or Brand Watch), so the menu can look a little different from one customer to another.
